i'm smtten...

I was hunting around for a new card design idea and found a cascading card tutorial in the Papercraft Inspirations February issue. I gave it a try and made my initial card blank and then looked at it for a couple of days before I decided how I would decorate it. I pulled out my latest MemoryWorks Express kit, dived into the papers and chipboard sheet and even found a little acrylic stamp set and I knew I had a valentine in the making for my granddaughter Eden.


I used one piece of solid gray cardstock from the kit and then pulled out a couple of the double-sided papers to decorate the individual panels of the card. I stamped 'LOVE" on one of the papers and punched it with a scalloped oval punch and punched a couple of hearts from a pink scrap. I grabbed another one of the stamps and stamped it repeatedly to create the hugs and kisses hearts. Another punch--a deep scallop border created a fun front panel that I layered over with chipboard stickers from Crate Paper. Some pink rhinestones in the scallops finish off the card and for just a little more glitz I covered the hearts in the banner and on the oval sentiment with Stickles. I can't wait to send it off to my favorite 7yo valentine. The card fits into a standard 4 3/4" x 6" envelope. Just saying...

crop time

I finally got around to scrapping crop night from Creating Keepsakes Convention last July. I had the privilege to crop with two great scrappers and friends. Although the room was too crowded, and we spend too long waiting in line, I had never attended the Saturday night open crop before and I am glad I tried a new experience.

The papers are from Authentique, Spendid line. I used the new WeR ribbon tool to sew in the zig-zag of green. It is just one of several options. The tool is very easy to use, you punch the holes and sew in the ribbon. Of course I added distress ink around all the papers and embellishments. The crochet flower and corrugated butterfly are from Kim Baum, one of my friends that I am cropping with here. All in all, it was a great scrappy escape with good friends, how does it get much better?

sweet dinara

When D came over one day with this lion hat, I was tickled. I had to snap a million photos and of course, scrap them. :) I utilized my MemoryWorks Express Kit from October since the papers fit the colors so well.
I worked in the My Mind's Eye Lost & Found design and "sweet" into the layout as part of the title/journaling. The layout is really quite simple, and loosely based on a card sketch.

I had the opportunity to share two cards with the wonderful ladies at Center in the Park (CIP) on Wednesday. Thank you Joan and Joan for inviting me this month. I had a great time, despite all the drama of the day. Flat tires, fussy granddaughter, rushing, rushing, rushing. These are the cards we made:


The flowers in the "thinking of you" card were made from hearts punched with a 1" heart punch from Marvy Uchida. They look great on a flourish as a stem.

The second card features first and second generation stamping, as well as flowers stamped and fussy cut.
