Tim Holtz posted this challenge on his blog and seeing as this tattered floral die is one of my favorites I had to play along.

I've had these photos for sitting in my to-scrap pile for a while now.  I made a mini album with pics from the event but I wanted layouts for my scrapbook as well.  The flowers I made are in the corners. 

The patterned papers are Simple Stories Documented, an older line, but the pinks pulled me in and I had to use them.  

I created the flowers by first taking plain white cardstock and layering washi tapes on them.  It doesn't photograph well here, and I guess I should have taken a photo of the paper before I started die cutting it.  I used washi tapes from Recollections and criss-crossed the tapes until most of the paper was covered.  Then I ran it through the die.

I layered in some old denim as well.  I tried to add color to the washi tapes with stains and Perfect Pearl mists but the surface of the tape wouldn't absorb the color.  I could have gone with alcohol inks but I wanted most of the design on the tapes to show through.  I cut the leaves from some felt.  I love layering flowers with this die, it is so versatile.

add a banner

 The January MemoryWorks Studio challenge is to add a banner to a layout.  I really like how the banners add to this layout.

I used Simple Stories Awesome papers and layered them up.  Two of the banners are chipboard from WRMemory Keepers and I layered the lower banner with a banner I cut myself with from solid cardstock.

I like saying good-by to cars that have served us well.  Maybe that's because we tend to hold onto our vehicles for as long as possible.  They are filled with memories.  I remember driving to Chicago in this truck, Jess & I to help JJ move out his furniture.  We had road-trip music and sang our way across the states.  Of course we had the sound track to "That Thing You Do", "Le Mis", "Chicago", and I don't remember what else.  We got bogged down in traffic but kept our spirits high by rocking out and dancing in our seats.  Fun.  I remember the numerous times we threw the kayaks in the back of the truck and headed out for a paddle.  See?  Lots of great memories.  I like using song lyrics for titles, it provides a sound track to the page.  I'll bet I have you all singing this tag line for at least a few minutes.

memoryworks teamworks 2013 blog hop!

It's time introduce the MemoryWorks support team for 2013!  I am delighted to be included on the team for a second year.  Today we're sharing the projects we submitted as part of our application.  

You should have come from Amanda's blog http://amandasscrapattic.blogspot.com ; isn't she talented?  I am always inspired by her work.  Here is what I submitted:

I used paper scraps and the Tim Holtz snowflake die to create a fridge magnet or a clip to hold a special card or ornament for my altered/decor project.  I also created the snowflake just for fun.

My first layout is very traditional, featuring Simple Stories Fabulous papers.  Close ups below.

My second layout, read to me dede makes use of patterned papers layers to create an interesting background with just enough solid cardstock to make the photos of my granddaughters pop.

This tag can be attached to a card front or gift.  I played with inking techniques and used chipboard pieces and papers from my MemoryWorks Express kit.

dinara's first year

I love playing with these 7Gypsies solo printer's trays. They are fast, easy, use scraps!, and make great gifts. In fact, my friend Rhadjena has made several of these. I have wanted to use this photo of D sleeping in some sort of project and this just came together perfectly. I was challenged on the Memory Works forum to create "a gift from the heart" and I hope that when I give it to Rebekah & Denard they will love it as much as I do.

She looks like an angel sleeping with a little stuffed toy. The other photos I took during the year I provided day care for her. I miss seeing her every day. I used American Crafts paper scraps and Basic Grey paper scraps, ZVA bling, a border strip from Doodlebug, flowers from my stash and a Maya Road metal flower.

Here are two other examples of the fun you can have with these trays. The first, pix from D's 1 year photo shoot at Kiddie Kandids. The Aug tag is 7Gypsies, the 1 bingo chip from an old MemoryWorks Express (MWE) kit. The name banner and border strip are Simple Stories. Flowers and arrow from my stash. When I say products are from my stash, it is because I don't remember who manufactured them and the packaging is long gone.

John kayaking uses My Minds Eye paper scraps, a Sizzix die cut bird that I then layered with patterned papers, and a calendar card from Simple Stories.

I went to the Philadelphia Zoo with Rebekah, D & Eden and we spend some time running around the tree house while Rebekah fed D. I took several photos of her in the play exhibits, especially the flower seat. I have the same photo of Jess in that seat when she was young. Great memories. I can't wait to pull out that photo and do a comparison layout, but for now, I wanted to feature Eden. The layout is based off a sketch challenge at sketchbaby! on Facebook. Actually it was posted before she opened the sketchbaby! page. This is my interpretation.
The papers are from MemoryWorks, October Afternoon Campfire with some Simple Stories 100 Days of Summer thrown in for fun. The embellishments come primarily from the 100 Days of Summer line. All these papers and embellishments came in my MemoryWorks Express kit. Each month MW puts together a kit of papers, embellishments, card bases, and alphas. Anyone can subscribe, not just consultants. You get enough supplies to make at least 5 or 6 layouts, 5 cards and scraps to incorporate in other layouts. I think the best thing about this kit is that you get to see papers from a variety of lines to try out in your scrapbooking.
