Today's December Daily post

Here is a full copy of my December Daily Memory Works post:

Hey there bloggers, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Happy New Year to you all from southeast PA where it's a blustery cold winter day.  All is as it should be.

Jenn here to share with you my Daily pages for Christmas day.  Yes, I said pages.

Before I get into my pages I'd like to express my delight in seeing the various December Daily styles represented by my fellow design team members.  They are all amazing!  From the altered children's book to the countdown clipboard, to the hand bound books, each designer has showcased products beautifully, shared new and interesting techniques and let us into their world by sharing their days this month.  I love the range of styles and products.  You can't help but be inspired to try something new in your scrapbooks whether you're a traditional scrapper, Project Life-er, love to use mixed media, artsy-fartsy techniques--or all of the above.  :)

Back to my pages.  As I mentioned in previous posts, I pre-designed my Daily.  I was concerned that if I didn't I'd start a Daily and by day 5 it would be tossed to the way-side for more fun, important scrappy/crafty tasks.  In the interests of full disclosure, I didn't finish my pre-design before the month started, and I still have photos to print and put in.  I have scheduled that into my calendar however, so it will be finished within the first couple days of the new year.  During my pre-design process I decided to devote several pages Christmas day.  I couldn't think of one single photo that depicts the day, rather numerous photos to show the progression of the day.

I started by creating a "chapter page," no photos, just a 3x4" card, old-school heat embossed and a die-cut page with a polka-dot background.
Embellishment and paper layers.  I took a die-cut 4x6" card and cut it down--yes, you can do that!--so that I show that these photos continue to be from the 25th.  Additionally, I adhered that card to the outside of the protector.  You can do that too.
Layers, rub-ons, stamps, and punches create these two pages.  Again, I used elements that include the date for a reference point.
Punches, bits of an old border strip and sequins, lots of sequins.  I didn't plan to put a sequin in every die-cut opening but a few spilled out of the bag onto the layered card and I thought, "Perfect!".
Sorry for the glare here, it's hard when you have those divided pocket protectors to get the lighting just right.  The last of the pages.  I took tons of photos however and I'm thinking they'll go into the general scrapbook in divided pages.  There's just so many unforgettable pix I have to include them all.
A future page--I need to add the date, but in my pre-design phase I included extra pages for days I knew there would be too much to include in one photo.  This page is for the weekend, for the Edwardson-Roberts Shindig when we celebrate Christmas with my husband's family.
I acutally stitched right through the protector and one layer of paper.  I used my We R Memory Keepers Sew Easy tool to pierce the protector (the foam mat slipped in so I'd only go through one side) and lightly poked the holes into the paper with my piercer.  Then I hand-sewed the border.  Cool, huh?
I added a backer so you wouldn't see the sewing and made good use of my tools--punches!--to add interest. Again, I layered these on top of the protector so I could go out of bounds.  I find the Beacon 3-in-1 glue adheres to the plastic nicely.

If you've made it this far, thanks!  I had a lot I wanted to say and show.

So, this is it.  My last Memory Works blog post.  I am feeling bittersweet.  I have loved every minute of being on the design team these last two years. I am sad to see it all end.  I look forward to the blog shares and hops that other, former design team members are planning and participating in.  I hope you will follow my personal blog, which you can access from the sidebar here to stay on top of my scrappy adventures.  I hope Kevin and Amber and Simple Stories grow far beyond their dreams.  I thank all the great folks in the office who supported us throughout the years.  And to all my fellow Memory Works consultants, cheers to you!  Best wishes for a blessed New Year.  Thanks Memory Works, it's been wonderful.

Be happy, Get scrappy,

Jenn

It's Blog Hop Day!!!

It's finally here, Blog Hop day!!!  I've been looking forward to this for a month or so now.  I'm loving all the new products in the Fall/Winter catalog, which you can see here.

First, THANK YOU for patiently hopping along.  You've made to to the end!

Today, I'm featuring products from Fancy Pants Capturing Moments.  I love the colors and images in this theme set.  I started with a basic two-page layout.  I don't worry much about scrapping chronologically and pull out pix that look good with the colors in them.

As you can see, this is all about dying Easter Eggs.  I loved the colors of the papers with the colors of my granddaughters eggs.

I used the 6x6" paper pad to for the die cut flowers and scalloped oval.  Otherwise, I let the paper speak to me.

I made good use of the ephemera pack, tags and ticket roll as well.

When I got together with my crop circle, my friend Kim brought along some vintage Halloween images and ideas for the Halloween Crafternoon for which she was preparing.  I borrowed some of the images and supplies she brought, paired them with my Capturing Moments scraps and came up with this fun rosette.
I made the rosette with 2-2 1/2x12 inch paper strips that I edge-punched, and my Martha Stewart Score Board.  I fussy cut the pumpkin image and pulled out some of the pieces in the ephemera pack and layered them up.  Inked the edges too.  Isn't he cute?
This Boo tag started with a tag made from the 6x6" paper pad and layered with another piece from that pad.  I used a Studio Calico stencil and black soot distress ink for the next layer.  Another fussy cut vintage image and collar from a cupcake liner provided by Kim and ephemera and ticket from the collection.

Looking over these three projects I realized I could have used holiday themed papers to create them, but rather than limit my creativity to papers only used for specific holidays I can use any papers I fall in love with and use them for any memory--holiday or otherwise.

Again, thanks for hopping along.  I know you've seen some amazing projects from the TeamWorks girls.  Each is so talented and has a unique style.  I am honored to be a part of the team.
Don't forget to leave your comment here on my blog for a chance to win a prize from Memory Works.  The more comments you leave, the more chances you have to win!  Can't beat that, huh?  You have until midnight CST to leave comments.

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Be happy, Get scrappy!!

add a banner

The January MemoryWorks Studio challenge is to add a banner to a layout.  I really like how the banners add to this layout.

I used Simple Stories Awesome papers and layered them up.  Two of the banners are chipboard from WRMemory Keepers and I layered the lower banner with a banner I cut myself with from solid cardstock.

I like saying good-by to cars that have served us well.  Maybe that's because we tend to hold onto our vehicles for as long as possible.  They are filled with memories.  I remember driving to Chicago in this truck, Jess & I to help JJ move out his furniture.  We had road-trip music and sang our way across the states.  Of course we had the sound track to "That Thing You Do", "Le Mis", "Chicago", and I don't remember what else.  We got bogged down in traffic but kept our spirits high by rocking out and dancing in our seats.  Fun.  I remember the numerous times we threw the kayaks in the back of the truck and headed out for a paddle.  See?  Lots of great memories.  I like using song lyrics for titles, it provides a sound track to the page.  I'll bet I have you all singing this tag line for at least a few minutes.

Get happy, get scrappy!

memoryworks teamworks 2013 blog hop!

It's time introduce the MemoryWorks support team for 2013!  I am delighted to be included on the team for a second year.  Today we're sharing the projects we submitted as part of our application.
You should have come from Amanda's blog http://amandasscrapattic.blogspot.com ; isn't she talented?  I am always inspired by her work.  Here is what I submitted:

I used paper scraps and the Tim Holtz snowflake die to create a fridge magnet or a clip to hold a special card or ornament for my altered/decor project.  I also created the snowflake just for fun.

My first layout is very traditional, featuring Simple Stories Fabulous papers.  Close ups below.

My second layout, read to me dede makes use of patterned papers layers to create an interesting background with just enough solid cardstock to make the photos of my granddaughters pop.

This tag can be attached to a card front or gift.  I played with inking techniques and used chipboard pieces and papers from my MemoryWorks Express kit.

I hope you enjoyed checking out my projects, now hop along and visit Kelly's blog http://kellyrholbrook.blogspot.com/ to see what she submitted.  Enjoy!

Below is the list of blogs. You should have come from Christine's blog where you viewed some great Dear Lizzie projects. Next up is Lynn's blog with My Mind's Eye Be Happy papers.

So let’s get started with the projects I created using Teresa Collins’ Everyday Moments. First, I have to tell you how excited I was to find such a fun navy blue and yellow paper line. I’ve been looking for a couple of years for papers in these colors to use to make some wedding pages for my daughter’s 2010 wedding. Her wedding colors? Navy blue and yellow. The line is fun yet elegant, appropriate for the photos I wanted to scrap with. I found the mason jar chipboard album at Want to Scrap and bought several, as mason jars were featured heavily at the wedding as vases for centerpieces and drinking glasses. Well, you’ll see what I mean as you look through this mini:

The photo in this layout is a bit grainy--iPhone pix are not always the best, but I like how it captured the moment. Not every photo has to be absolutely perfect, work with the photos that tell the story:
When I have a bunch of matching supplies out after creating a layout or project, I love to make cards and ATCs:

I still had a bunch of chipboard pieces, element stickers, brads, and papers left over when I finished. Other than the mason jar chipboard album I supplemented the theme paper kit with some solid cardstock in white, yellow and navy. I used punches and dies, a few buttons and my Sew Right tool and some floss, and some Thickers for my layout title. I love this line so much I actually bought doubles of everything so I could use it for other projects as well. Enjoy! Keep hopping along. Lynn - MME: Be Happy http://frommybungalow.blogspot.com/

dinara's first year

I love playing with these 7Gypsies solo printer's trays. They are fast, easy, use scraps!, and make great gifts. In fact, my friend Rhadjena has made several of these. I have wanted to use this photo of D sleeping in some sort of project and this just came together perfectly. I was challenged on the Memory Works forum to create "a gift from the heart" and I hope that when I give it to Rebekah & Denard they will love it as much as I do.

She looks like an angel sleeping with a little stuffed toy. The other photos I took during the year I provided day care for her. I miss seeing her every day. I used American Crafts paper scraps and Basic Grey paper scraps, ZVA bling, a border strip from Doodlebug, flowers from my stash and a Maya Road metal flower.

Here are two other examples of the fun you can have with these trays. The first, pix from D's 1 year photo shoot at Kiddie Kandids. The Aug tag is 7Gypsies, the 1 bingo chip from an old MemoryWorks Express (MWE) kit. The name banner and border strip are Simple Stories. Flowers and arrow from my stash. When I say products are from my stash, it is because I don't remember who manufactured them and the packaging is long gone.
John kayaking uses My Minds Eye paper scraps, a Sizzix die cut bird that I then layered with patterned papers, and a calendar card from Simple Stories.

Enjoy!

i'm smtten...

I was hunting around for a new card design idea and found a cascading card tutorial in the Papercraft Inspirations February issue. I gave it a try and made my initial card blank and then looked at it for a couple of days before I decided how I would decorate it. I pulled out my latest MemoryWorks Express kit, dived into the papers and chipboard sheet and even found a little acrylic stamp set and I knew I had a valentine in the making for my granddaughter Eden.

I used one piece of solid gray cardstock from the kit and then pulled out a couple of the double-sided papers to decorate the individual panels of the card. I stamped 'LOVE" on one of the papers and punched it with a scalloped oval punch and punched a couple of hearts from a pink scrap. I grabbed another one of the stamps and stamped it repeatedly to create the hugs and kisses hearts. Another punch--a deep scallop border created a fun front panel that I layered over with chipboard stickers from Crate Paper. Some pink rhinestones in the scallops finish off the card and for just a little more glitz I covered the hearts in the banner and on the oval sentiment with Stickles. I can't wait to send it off to my favorite 7yo valentine. The card fits into a standard 4 3/4" x 6" envelope. Just saying...

Enjoy!

at the treehouse

I went to the Philadelphia Zoo with Rebekah, D & Eden and we spend some time running around the tree house while Rebekah fed D. I took several photos of her in the play exhibits, especially the flower seat. I have the same photo of Jess in that seat when she was young. Great memories. I can't wait to pull out that photo and do a comparison layout, but for now, I wanted to feature Eden. The layout is based off a sketch challenge at sketchbaby! on Facebook. Actually it was posted before she opened the sketchbaby! page. This is my interpretation.
The papers are from MemoryWorks, October Afternoon Campfire with some Simple Stories 100 Days of Summer thrown in for fun. The embellishments come primarily from the 100 Days of Summer line. All these papers and embellishments came in my MemoryWorks Express kit. Each month MW puts together a kit of papers, embellishments, card bases, and alphas. Anyone can subscribe, not just consultants. You get enough supplies to make at least 5 or 6 layouts, 5 cards and scraps to incorporate in other layouts. I think the best thing about this kit is that you get to see papers from a variety of lines to try out in your scrapbooking. You can get more information about subscribing to this kit club from me, jennedwardson@hotmail.com.

pinwheels

I love this photo of Eden with some of her best friends. It was taken at Rebekah's wedding and the girls all look absolutely adorable, cute, beautiful, you name it!

Since the girls clothing all comes off as white in this photo, I had lots of freedom of color choice for this layout. I had this die cut paper from my MemoryWorks Express May kit and loved the way the red from Helena's dress popped when I started layering. I made the pinwheels to express the youthful joy of these girls. Double-sided paper was made for this technique that I'll be demoing at Michaels Arts & Crafts in Willow Grove on Saturday during the all day crop. Anyone can do this, it's easy, peasy, lemon squeezy. I matted the alpha stickers for the girls' names and some bits of ribbons and rick-rack for fun. I stamped the bees and colored them in with Smooch ink.

Enjoy!

3-d

Eden and I went to see Tangled in 3-D back in November. We went opening weekend and I thought it might be crowded or sold out, so we went a little early. We had lots of time to wait before the movie began so we started playing around with my camera. This is the result. I used papers, border strips and journaling spots from Crate Paper's Restoration line. Memory Works carries this line of papers, or at least they did. Memory Works is currently producing their new catalog so I don't know if they will carry it come Spring. The colors worked well with our clothing and the "3-d" is from Jillibean Soup.

Enjoy!
